Bowens Mills

The Bowens Mills Historic Site is located in Montcalm County, Michigan. It’s a mill town founded by William Bowen in 1837. The town was built to serve the needs of the lumber industry that dominated the economy at the time.

The mill operated until 1955 when it was burned down by a fire caused by a lightning strike. The building remains as they were left after the fire, with many original artifacts still intact inside.

Bernard Historical Museum

The Bernard Historical Museum is a small and welcoming museum that contains artifacts from the town’s history and is staffed by friendly volunteers. The museum has an extensive collection of Native American artifacts, including baskets and pottery made by local tribes such as the Ottawa and Chippewa. It also has a variety of other interesting items, including old photographs of the town, newspapers from the late 1800s and early 1900s, information on various local businesses (such as a hardware store), information about people who have lived in Bernard over time, Native American clothing worn during special ceremonies by area tribes, etc.

Gilmore Car Museum

The Gilmore Car Museum is located in Hickory Corners and is home to an extensive collection of antique cars. If you’re a car lover, this museum will be right up your alley.

The Gilmore Car Museum has over 1,000 cars on display, including Cadillacs to muscle cars from the 1950s and 1960s. You’ll also find a number of celebrity vehicles like the Batmobile and James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5. There are also movie props such as KITT from Knight Rider and Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters!

This museum is open from May through October, so plan accordingly if you want to make it out there before then!

Gun Lake Park

Gun Lake Park is located at 2397 Patterson Rd, Wayland, in the small community of Madeline, Michigan. The park features a campground with tent and trailer sites, lean-to’s, cabins, boat rentals, a swimming beach, and a municipal marina to rent boats from Gun Lake or have them serviced here.

Gun Lake Park has picnic areas near the beach and a bluff overlooking the lake. There are also several playgrounds for kids to play on while you watch your children swim off the beach or fish from one of the many docks surrounding Gun Lake.

The grounds are immaculate, with clean restrooms available all over, so it will be clean no matter where you go on-site! You can take advantage of their dump site, but only if you stay overnight at the campground.

Grand Rapids Public Museum

This museum is located in downtown Grand Rapids, MI, and is a part of the Grand Rapids Art Museum. The main gallery features original art exhibits that change on a regular basis, with highlights such as works by Van Gogh and Monet. Additional galleries include science-related exhibits, children’s activities, and temporary exhibitions (such as their current exhibit about the history of cars). The museum also houses an impressive collection of Native American artifacts from Michigan’s ancient past.

A visit to this museum will provide insight into local history and give you an idea of what life was like for some Michigan natives hundreds of years ago!
