This park has an area of 5,200 acres. It has 200 modern, 120 rustic and 25 equestrian camping sites. You can find cross-county ski/hiking trails, mountain biking trails and equestrian trails. There are nine lakes here, with Gun lake as the largest and they provide you opportunities for fishing, swimming and boating. The highlights include the Devil's Soupbowl, Graves Hill Scenic Overlook, The Pines, Civilian Conservation Corps era buildings, and a glacially carved kettle formation.
North Country Trail – M179 Trailhead
The North Country Trail is a 20.4-kilometer trail. It has moderate traffic on the regular. The back trail is found near Middleville, Michigan and it features a lake as well. This trail is mainly used for walking, hiking, bird watching and nature trips. It is best visited from the period of May until September.
There are up to date trail signage and a map available at the trailhead so you will not be lost. You can bring along pamphlets with information and there are maps you can take with you for this trail area. There is plenty of parking here if you want to drive over. The trail is well maintained and it is a lovely one where you can go on hikes.
Rabbit River Trail
The Rabbit River Trail spans 1.0 kilometers. It is a moderately trafficked loop trail that is found near Wayland, Michigan. This trail gives you a wide variety of activity options. It is best visited from March until October. You can bring dogs on this trail but they must be kept on leash. This is a quick trail for a short hike and it is suitable for kids to visit.
McLinden Nature Trail
The Fred McLinden Nature Trail is 2.7 kilometers in length. It is a moderately trafficked loop trail located near Comstock, Michigan. There is a lovely lake here and this trail is suitable for all skill levels. It is a great place to walk the dogs. This trail is well maintained and you will be able to enjoy walking through a variety of lovely scenery.
